Ambient aerosol particles were studied by XPS (ESCA) and electron probe microanalysis energy-dispersive x-ray spectrometry (EPMA-EDX) in a non-destructive way. For sampling, polytetraΓ‘uoroethylene (PTFE) samplers were used in Battelle-type cascade impactors. Sampling locations and times were : Viso
