✦ Synopsis

The title iminophosphorane, C~29~H~28~NO~4~PS, a thiophene compound with the sterically crowded –N=P(C~6~H~5~)~3~ substituent in the α-position of the aromatic ring, features an N =P double bond of length 1.572 (3) Å. One of the phenyl rings is coplanar with the plane of the three ipso-C atoms, whereas the other two are approximately orthogonal.
