✦ Synopsis

Nutritional equivalents for folate, vitamin E and provitamin A carotenoids have been revised to more accurately reflect their contribution to nutrition as they exist in foods. This revision results in a reduction in the nutritional value of each of these three nutrients compared to previous nutritional equivalents. Therefore, not using these new nutritional equivalents can result in an overestimated intake of folate, vitamin E and vitamin A.
