Many experiments on the dielectric behaviour of gaseous hefium have been carried out in the temperature range of 4"2 to 50 K. These experiments have been carried out in uniform fields as well as in nonuniform fields. In uniform fields, special attention has been paid to the breakdown values near the

โฆ Synopsis
Dielectric breakdown of gaseous hefium has been studied over the temperature range 4.2-300 K for spacings between electrodes from 5 to 80 mm.
A particular study on dielectric breakdown ofsupercritical hefium has been made over the pressure range 2.5-10 bars ( x 105N/m2).

D.c. breakdown characteristics of gaseous helium in uniform and non-uniform electric fields down to 4.2 K at atmospheric pressure have been investigated. Although helium is a nonelectronegative gas, a negative pulse corona is observed only near the normal boiling point due to the abrupt appearance o
