✦ Synopsis

The dielectric and electrical properties of Se 100Àx S x glasses (x ¼ 0; 5; 10; 15 and 20) were carried out in the frequency range 0.12-100 kHz and temperature range 303-393 K. The frequency dependence of the AC conductivity is found to obey the modified form of the universal power law, s 0 ¼ s 0 þ Ao s þ Bo s 0 . The analysis provides an indication of charge hopping mechanism. The influence of composition on the investigated parameters has been reported and attributed to the effect of sulfur fraction on the defect states.

The temperature and intensity dependence of photoconductivity measurements has been studied in amorphous thin films of Se 80Àx Ge 20 Ag x (x ¼ 0, 5, 10) prepared by vacuum evaporation. The dark conductivity (s d ) increases and the activation energy (DE) decreases as the Ag concentration increases i
