✦ Synopsis

The optical constants in the mid-infrared of fluorobenzene, fluorobenzene-d,, iodobenzene, iodobenzene-d,, pyridine and pyridine-ds at 20°C have been measured. They are presented in form of the Cauchy-Gauss sum parameter and the Kramers-Kronig anchor point.

The half-widths of the absorption bands are discussed in terms of molecular rotation. The movement round the Z axis of the molecules is the fastest. The increasing mass of the substituent is slowing down the rotation round the X and Y axis resulting in smaller band widths.
