✦ Synopsis

Based on the well-known interpretations of the catalytic influence of alkalis on the carbon gasification reactions, a new theoretical approach has been evolved. This is derived from the increased mobility of the valency electrons from the alkali cores, which are introduced into the carbon lattice. Adsorption and desorption of the gases participating in the gasification reactions are easily accounted for by the theory of activated complexes. Reactivity experiments and electron spin resonance m~asuremellts confirm the electron theory basis of this concept.
