✦ Synopsis

Abstract

The preparation of some of Tröger's Bases (I), their transformation into the corresponding dibenzo(b‐f)diazocines‐(1,5) (II, phenhomazines) and some of their derivatives are described. The reaction between I and e.g. methylsulphate, yielding II, is shown to proceed through quaternary salts (III) and the intermediates IV. The constitution proposed for the resulting II is supported by the results of hydrogenolytic degradation reactions.
