✦ Synopsis
The relation between the mean arterial C02-pressure (p~CO~) and the endtidal CO~-pressure (p~C02) was measured in 6 male students at rest and at exercise up to 15 mkp/sec and in dogs which were ar~eficially ventilated. In the investigated range the difference between arterial and endtidM CO 2 pressure was always positive. Its absolute value depended on the value of :p~CO~. In men the difference was about 4 mm Hg when/0~CO~ was 30 mm Hg, became smaller with increasing/~CO~ and reached O, when/9C02 was more than 52 mm ttg. Similar results were found in dogs, the absolute values of the a--A difference, however, were smaller.
