✦ Synopsis
The described experiments were done to check the possible relationship between the supply of endogenous bile and the external pancreas secretion. Anastomeses between the bileduct and the intestine were established in rats introducing the bile flow into the duodenum, the middle jejunum and into the lower ileum. In another series of experiments, the supply of bile was stopped by shutting off the Duct. choledochus. The secretion rate of the pancreas was measured in the waking animal 48 hrs. after operation.
Introducing the bile flow into the duodenum, the pancreas secretion had an amount of 0,07 ml/30 min. 100 g. The more aberal the bile was flowing into the intestine, the higher was the secretion. No differences in the secretion rates were seen neither introducing the bile flow into the lower ileum nor after shutting off the Duct. choledochus. The latter led to a much higher protein concentration in the pancreas secrete than the other experimental conditions.
That means that the basal bile flew inhibits the basal pancreas secretion. The more aboral the bile is supplied, the more pronounced that inhibition will be. Other authors described that a supply of sedium-dehydroeholate increases the secretinstimulated pancreas secretion. The inhibition of the basal pancreas secretion by the basal supply of bile is therefore considered as a teleelogieally useful regulation.
