✦ Synopsis

The Elucidation of Taxine A from Taxus baccata L.

The structure of taxine A, C~35~H~47~NO~10~, the crystalline alkaloid obtained by partition chromatography of the amorphous taxine isolated from taxus baccata L. was elucidated. Partial structures and functional groups were derived from proton and carbon‐13 NMR involving decoupling experiments. Full structure determination of the tricyclic diterpenoid backbone was achieved by single crystal X‐ray diffractometry. Bond distances and assignments of proton and carbon shifts are given.
