## Abstract The BURSTEIN effect is observed in cadmium selenide single crystals doped with gallium, prepared from the melt, with electron concentrations in the range 10^18^ to 10^20^ cm^βˆ’3^. It is deduced from absorption and reflection measurements that both the energy gap and the crystald field sp
