β¦ Synopsis
The diaquahydrogenium hes;rchIoronntimonte(V) H50$SbC!l~(I) snd D,O~SbCl~(II) were prepared by the reaction of SbCl~*2Hz0 and SbCIS. 2DzO with HCI or DC1 respectively. The infrrued r;pectra were assigned. In addition nb initio alculations were performed on the system HsOi, for which frequencies and IR absorbanccs of three mutually perpcndicular modes of the H-bonded proton and D-bonded deuteron were crllcuhted.

## Abstract The ultraviolet circular dichroism (CD) of oriented DNA and RNA molecules is calculated by an extension of Johnson and Tinoco's theory [(1969) __Biopolymers__ **7**, 727β749] for unoriented molecules. The calculations are carried out for molecular models of AβDNA, BβDNA, planar BβDNA, C
