EQ UIPMENT NEWS their highest. The packing consists of a running sole of finely braided PTFE/graphite compound yarn fixed to a graphite-filled backing cord. Its high graphite content makes Duoval superior to PTFE packings in terms of lower thermal expansion and conductivity. The backing cord fulfils the practical requirements for low compression set while at the same time providing a safety reserve should the packing be overtightened. It also ensures against leakage around the outside of the packing. With Duoval the running-in lubricant is brought directly to the edge area of the packing, eliminating many of the functional disadvantages of conventional PTFE and VFFE-graphite packings.

Duoval is suitable for use in hot water, condensate, oils, solvents acids and alkalies for pressures up to 20 bar, temperatures between -32 and 280 °C, and speeds of 20 m/s.
