✦ Synopsis

The the title compound [systematic name: 4-(2,2,4-trimethylchroman-4-yl)phenol-trichloroacetonitrile (6/1)], 6C 18 H 20 O 2 Á-C 2 Cl 3 N, the usual trigonal packing of the Dianin's compound host structure occurs. The guest is found in a host-guest ratio of 6:1. ClÁ Á Á interactions serve to order the guest, thus facilitating its structural characterization.

Two-dimensional magnetization exchange experiments, with the radio-frequency-driven recoupling pulse sequence in the mixing time, have been performed for the detection of homonuclear 13C-13C distances between the singly 13C labeled methyl carbon of p-xylene and the natural abundant 13C nuclei of the

AbstractÐThe relationship of bulk properties of materials to the microscopic interactions of the moieties that comprise them is demonstrated by connecting the guest±host interactions of a series of crystals of Dianin's inclusion compounds to their bulk moduli of elasticity and linear compressibiliti
