The title compound, (C 6 H 8 N) 2 [(Mo 6 Cl 8 )Cl 6 ]Á2H 2 O, the anilinium salt of an Mo II chloride cluster, shows a rigid and stable hydrogen-bonded network. The chloromolybdate cluster dianion occupies a special position on a twofold axis.
