Abstract
A seven year audit of a GP practice nurse‐run diabetic review service was done with the aim of identifying any improvement in control by analysing the HbA~1~c results. The study also monitored the diagnostic rate of diabetes within the practice over this period. The audit showed some improvement in levels of control by 1993, with 75% of diabetic patients achieving ‘acceptable’ control. Over the seven year period the proportion of those diagnosed with diabetes within the practice increased from 1.1% to 1.6%.
