โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

Tonic immobility (TI) was induced by means of ventral restraint in White Leghorn chicks within 12โ€hr posthatch (Day 0) and, in independent groups, on succeeding days through Day 10. Durations of immobility and eye closure increased and incidence of immobility termination and vocalization decreased significantly with age. Marked qualitative changes in immobility reactions were also apparent over the first few posthatch days.

## Abstract The manifestation and duration of the tonic immobility reaction in 3โ€dayโ€old chicks (__Gallus gallus__) was found to vary reliably as a function of the spatial proximity between the hand of the experimenter and the immobilized chick. The results of this experiment indicate that young bi
