In contrast to locus coeruleus neurons in vivo, dopamine was the predominant catecholamine synthesized, stored, and released by neonatal mouse locus coeruleus cultures which included target cerebellar tissue, and norepinephrine was present in these cultures only at very low levels. Developmentally,
