โฆ Synopsis
Basic and operational data with laboratory humidification-dehumidification (HD) desalination unit of 30 gallons of fresh water per dav form the basis of the scaled up design of 1000 gallon unit. Analysis of such data of the HD technique replacing in part the total energy requirement by solar energy suggests its suitability for obtaining industrial water in arid regions like Kutch area (Gujarat state) near the sea coast where solar energy is abundant. For industries using sea water as coolant, there may be a saving of about 25 per cxnr in capital cxpenditurc in the HC plant since the solar energy coliector uni: of rhc plant is not required then.

The potential of the development of water desalination using wind energy in Jordan was studied. Eleven wind solar sites were considered. The results show that these sites can be divided, in terms of the yearly total amount of desalinated water, into three categories. One is considered favourable, wh
