In man~ art'as of physics., progress is impeded by the inadequacies of available computer systems. By surveying the kind of problem that is now difficult to solve, it is possible to discern ":hose limitations in computer systems which represent the principal obstacles to computational physics. An attempt is made in the present paper to list those limitations and to review the progress that is being, made to overcome them.
