✦ Synopsis

A user-friendly planning tool which models the reduction of organic contaminant levels in rivers or streams, via the activity of biofilms, has been developed. Biofilms are matrices of micro-organisms and organic matter which line many stream beds. The planning tool is hosted on a personal computer, and has been written in Fortran. The theoretical basis and development of the planning tool are described, and several examples are presented.
