β¦ Synopsis
We developed a new detector system for neutron diffraction measurements. The new system consists of a sheet having thermal luminosity, a neutron converter, and a CCD camera. The sheet is made by a BaSO 4 :Eu, Cl-10 B 2 O 3 mixture covered with a Teflon binder. The a-particles induced by incident neutrons through a (n-a) reaction of 10 B record the latent image of neutron diffraction patterns in the thermoluminescence sheet. A visual image of the neutron diffraction patterns can be quickly retrieved by recording the spatial distribution and the brightness of the thermo-luminescences emitted from the sheet.
