✦ Synopsis

We developed a new detector system for neutron diffraction measurements. The new system consists of a sheet having thermal luminosity, a neutron converter, and a CCD camera. The sheet is made by a BaSO 4 :Eu, Cl-10 B 2 O 3 mixture covered with a Teflon binder. The a-particles induced by incident neutrons through a (n-a) reaction of 10 B record the latent image of neutron diffraction patterns in the thermoluminescence sheet. A visual image of the neutron diffraction patterns can be quickly retrieved by recording the spatial distribution and the brightness of the thermo-luminescences emitted from the sheet.

A readout electronics system for linear position sensitive 3 He gas detectors has been developed. It is widely used for neutron scattering instruments at KEK Neutron Science Laboratory (KENS). The basic structure of the system is quite versatile, and can be used for various imaging-systems. Several
