Objective: To introduce a brief scale for measuring the level of acculturation among Japanese Americans and to describe its development and utility. We also evaluate the relationship of demographic characteristics with acculturation in one sample of Japanese Americans.

This descriptive study was undertaken to explore the perceptions and attitudes of 143 women (mean age+/-51) with advanced cancer. Outcome measures were the Perceptions and Attitudes Scale (PAS), a 65-item instrument validated as part of the study, and the Karnofsky Performance Status Scale. Internal
