โฆ Synopsis
Nanocrystalline tetragonal zirconia films using ESD Presenr efforts are focused on lowering the operating temperature of SOFCs from -1000ยฐC to -750ยฐC (i.e. IT-SOFCs). However, such temperatures need a significant reduction in the electrolyte resistance. Here pure tetragonal and nanocrystalline 2 mol% Yz03-doped ZrO, thin films (0.5 urn thick) were deposited on stainless steel substrates by electrostatic spray deposition at 400ยฐC. Good homogeneity was confirmed in the composition. The surface morphology of dense to porous thin films was well controlled with respect to subsrrate tempemture and deposition time. The film composition was homogeneous, and similar to that of the precursor solution. A monolithic IT-SOFC based on dense 2Y-TZl? thin film as a new electrolyte material is in progress.
