✦ Synopsis

An immunoluminometric assay for plasma lactoferrin has been developed and used to study the levels in children and neonates with viral and bacterial infections. The reference range for plasma lactoferrin was 50-250 pgA. Lactoferrin levels were significantly higher in patients with bacterial versus viral infections.
