What are the challenges associated with competitive technical intelligence (CTI) that distinguish it from general competitive intelligence? DR. CLARK: As regards technical intelligence, business intelligence, and internal knowledge management issues, there's a continuum. Many of the same people are involved in all of these aspects.
MR. PAAP: Does anyone feel there is any real difference between CTI technical intelligence and competitive intelligence?
MR. HERRING: It's the content and the area in which decisions are impacted that distinguish it. Market intelligence (MI) certainly effects the development and positioning of products. Technology intelligence (TI) mainly impacts technology or R&D-related issues, and there is a different skill set associated with it. However, by itself TI is a very naked form of intelligence. Until
