✦ Synopsis

Given the liberalization of telecommunications (telecom) markets, the proliferation of new entrants, and the overall acceleration of the industry, telecom providers from around the world are taking a careful look at their competitive intelligence (CI) capabilities. Deloitte Consulting has interviewed several CI leaders from the largest telecom operators in North America, Western Europe, and Australia to identify current CI practices within the telecom industry. Results from these interviews and insights from experience in the field, coupled with internal and external research, allowed us to develop a framework to guide the development of a competitive intelligence program for telecom operators. This article summarizes our preliminary findings.
