โฆ Synopsis
Characteristics
of a linking science between scientific psychology and educational practices are discussed. It is argued that the nature of the knowledge comprising this linking science is qualitatively different from both basic research and applied research as we usually think of them. Differences between a descriptive science and a prescriptive science are discussed. The nature of the instructional problem that needs to be addressed is identified, and examples are presented of how a linking science might address this problem. This article is a revision of a presentation in: T. J. Shuell (Chair), Toward a Linking Science of~nstructional fsychology, a symposium held at the meeting of the Northeastern
