✦ Synopsis

The reslllts on strong coupling constant, ai>, in e+e-collision at, LEP are reviewed: based on hadronic events collected at, c:ent,re-of-mass energies between 30 GeV and 208 GcxV by t,he L3 experiment,.

In part,icularly the recent results at ,/% 1 192 GeV are discussed. The distributions of several event, shape variables are conlparatl to resummed 0(crz) QCD calculations.

These measurements, combined wit,h previons L3 measurement,s at lower energies, demonstrate the running of as as expected in QCD and yield ol,(mz) = 0.1227 + 0.0012 I+ 0.0058, where the first uncertainty is experimental and the second is theoretical.
