β¦ Synopsis
Keversible 1,2-shifts of the ethyl group in the 9-ethyl-9,lO-dimethylphenanthrenonium ion lead to a reversible change of the ring hydrogen states (A'B'C'D' z A"B'CD"). Line shape analysis for the determination of the exchange rate was performed for this case of intramolecular exchange between the two multi-spin systems. The calculations are based on density matrix formalism.

The paper concerns an n-degree of freedom damped vibrating system consisting of n!1 masses connected in parallel, by springs and dampers, to an nth mass. The paper analyzes the construction of such a system from the given complex eigenvalue data. The analysis has two parts: the establishment of the
This experimental}theoretical paper discusses whether, and how accurately, the mass, damping and sti!ness matrices for a purportedly two-degree-of-freedom (2-d.o.f.) system may be reconstructed from the measured complex eigenvalues and/or eigenvectors. The system consists of two parallel cantilevere

## Abstract The rate constants of intramolecular processes can sometimes be measured only in the presence of optically active auxiliary compounds. The problem of obtaining the rate for the free molecule was solved by linear extrapolation of rate constant from the complexed to the uncomplexed molecu
