โฆ Synopsis
The ratio of the nuclear quadrupole moments of la5Gd and lj7Gd was determined from the EPR spcctrum of GdS+ in a YPO4 single crystal.
The value 166Q/lj7Q = 0.94 5 0.01 differs from previously reported ratios.
The EPR spectrum is rather unusual in that the quadrupole interaction dominates over the hyperfine interaction.
For H perpendicular to the c axis, the overall hyperfine splitting is linear in the quadrupole interaction.
