✦ Synopsis
The spatial distribution of normal and tangential components of magnetic induction in 1-2-3 single crystals in the critical state was measured and calculated numerically. A good agreement between the calculation and the experiment was obtained. It was shown that at initial stages of magnetization the Meissner region can be approximated by an ellipsoid which shrinks in the plane perpendicular to the field while its size along the field remains constant and equal to the sample thickness. The critical current density outside the Meissner region was found to be independent of the local induction value.
