This paper describes new proposals for measuring the sound-power levels of industrial equipment. They are contained in the Noise Procedure Specification NWG-1, issued by the Oil Companies Materials Association, 1 and are intended for use in the petroleum and petroehemical industries, but it is suggested that the), could have wider applications in other industries.
