โœฆ Synopsis

The determmatlon of trace lead IO mdmm and mdrum salts by d c anodlc stnppmg voltammetry without prelmunary separation IS described The electrocheuucal actlvlty of mdmm, which usually Interferes m the determmatlon of lead, IS inhibited by using Sulforokanol L-3 (oxyethylated lauryl alcohol sodmm sulphate salt) as a surfactant In 0 5 M tartrate solution at pH 4 4 as a supportmg electrolyte unthout the surfactant present, trace levels of lead (1 x lo-' M) can be determmed accurately d the molar ratlo of mdmm to lead IS not higher than 3, but If the electrolyte also contams 0 1% Sulforokanol L-3, mdmm can be tolerated at concentrations up to 0 05 M and the height of the lead peak is unaffected It IS therefore possible to determine 1 X 10-s M PMII) m the presence of 0 05 M I&I), 1 e , lead at the 3 6 X lo-'% level m mdmm The accuracy and preaslon of the determmation are satisfactory (relative standard devlatlon 2 4-8 8%) Lead has been determined m mdmm metal and mdmm salts of vanous degrees of punty

This paper presents a method for the determination of trace levels of cadmium and lead in indium metal and indium salts, using differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry at the hangi.ng mercury drop electrode. The electrochemical activity of indium, which usually interferes in the determination
