We have developed a procedure for the accurate measurement of histidine decarboxylase in tissues expressing low levels of enzymatic activity. Briefly, histamine is enzymatically synthesized from [ 3 H]-labeled histidine, followed by purification using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) an
