β¦ Synopsis
A procedure was developed for the graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometnc determmatlon of galhum m high-iron geological matenals such as iron meteontes To overcome severe interference from iron, gallium 1s extracted as a chloro complex from 5 M hydrochloric aad mto lsobutyl methyl ketone Iron IS reduced by addition of potassmm iodide and its co-extraction into the organic phase is thereby decreased to < 2% As detenmned by analysis of geological reference materials, the hmlt of detection (30) was about 0 05 pg g-' The preclslon (R S D ) ranged from 0 8 to 1 1% The accuracy, as deternuned from the relative error, ranged from 0 7 to 7 7% for the three standards analysed In solutions containing 1 pg ml-' galhum, no interferences were observed for up to 1500 pg III-~ mckel, 1200 pg ml-l copper, 200 fig ml-' cobalt, 100 pg ml-' arsemc and 200 pg ml-' germanium The method was applied to the analysis of eight iron meteorites that had been previously analysed by neutron actlvatlon analysis The mean relatwe deviation of 8 6% was satisfactory

An analytical method for the determination of iron, cobalt, nickel, and copper in aluminum fluoride has been described. The insolubility of \(\mathrm{AlF}_{3}\) in inorganic acids makes it necessary to separate these metals by leaching them with \(\mathrm{HNO}_{3}\). The metals that leached out were
A nickel/palladium matrix modifier was proposed for the determination of selenium and tellurium in nickel and nickel/iron-based alloys by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry without preseparation of the matrix. The effect of this matrix modifier was studied and it was found that a compos
A chemical modifier composed of nickel and zirconium salts and treatment of the graphite tube with zirconium solution were studied for the determination of boron in cast iron, Fe-, Ni-and Fe-Ni-based alloys.
