✦ Synopsis
A method using direct solid-phase microextraction SPME coupled Ž . Ž . with gas chromatography GC and GCrmass spectrometry GCrMS for the Ž determination of five benzodiazepines diazepam, nordiazepam, oxazepam, . temazepam, and lorazepam in aqueous solution, urine, and serum was developed. TM Ž . The Carbowax ᎐divinylbenzene CAXrDVB coated fiber extracted all five benzodiazepines in the highest amounts compared to the other fiber coatings Ž . Ž . Ž . Ž . examined: poly arcylate PA , 100 m poly dimethylsiloxane PDMS , and Ž .
Ž . poly dimethylsiloxane rdivinylbenzene PDMSrDVB . The highest amount of all five and benzodiazepines extracted was under conditions of saturated salt with pH 7 and sampling at 45ЊC with agitation. The method was linear over the range of 0.1᎐2 grmL of sample using the CAXrDVB coated fiber. The limits of detection were determined as 0.02 grL, 0.03 grmL, and 0.1 grmL of sample for diazepam and nordiazepam, oxazepam and lorazepam, and temazepam. The standard deviation values of intraday and interday measured for the five benzodiazepines were all less than 12.5%. The new method was also applied to the analysis of the above target analytes in urine and serum.
