High-performance liquid chromatography on a Zipax SAX column with U.V. detection at 200 nm gives precise results for bromide. Chloride, bromate, nitrite, nitrate, iodide, thiocyanate and various cations do not interfere; prior treatment with activated charcoal removes interfering organic compounds.
