## Abstract It has been known for many years that dispersivities increase with solute displacement distance in a subsurface. The increase of dispersivities with solute travel distance results from significant variation in hydraulic properties of porous media and was identified in the literature as

โฆ Synopsis
Abstract
Analytical solutions to the problem of solute transport in soils are presented for simple oneโdimensional cases. A model from the literature, determining transport parameters by employing a nonlinear leastโsquares inversion method, is evaluated as to its reliability in producing the correct set of parameters. A sensitivity analysis of the parameters is also performed and some useful conclusions, about the reliability of the numerical code, are drawn. On the basis of theoretical analysis, an application is attempted for simple cases of oneโdimensional solute transport in soils. Comments concerning the sampling design for the parameters' estimation are also added. Copyright ยฉ 2006 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

## Abstract **BACKGROUND:** The financial and technical challenges currently being faced by the pharmaceutical industry have prompted the development of computer models that rapidly evaluate manufacturing strategies for commercialโscale drug production. The utility of a model is enhanced by the app
A protein assay is described in which the sample is precipitated with trichloroacetic acid in the presence of sodium dodecylsulfate, filtered off on a Millipore membrane and stained with Amidoschwarz 10B. The proteindye complex is eluted, and its absorbance determined at 630 nm. This assay is very r
In this article, we analyze an Euler implicit-mixed finite element scheme for a porous media solute transport model. The transporting flux is not assumed given, but obtained by solving numerically the Richards equation, a model for subsurface fluid flow. We prove the convergence of the scheme by est
A series of experiments designed to study the separation of flow components from two large undisturbed cores under steady-state rainfall (downward) and return (upward) flows under near-saturated conditions is summarized. The experiments were conducted on soil columns collected from Lancaster Univers
