A total of 1242 samples of soil, collected over Greece, during the period May-November 1986, were counted and analysed for 137Cs from Chernobyl fallout. The counting was performed using a NaI detector on-line to a microcomputer, moreover, 252 of the samples were also analysed using Ge detectors, for
