โฆ Synopsis
Two methods are described for the detection and measurement of peramine, an alkaloid from endophyte-infected grasses with insect feeding deterrent activity. Both procedures involve ion-exchange work up of extracts followed by either thin-layer chromatography with detection by Ehrlich's reagent or quantitation by reversedphase high-performance liquid chromatography with UV detection at 280 nm.
