Abstract

In this letter, for the first time, a genetic algorithm is applied successfully for the design and optimization of a multilayer slant linear polarizer to cover a bandwidth of 1:18. In the algorithm, the fitness function is selected based on the return‐loss requirement. A minimum of 10 dB return loss in the specified bandwidth was achieved. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. ## Abstract A mixed model of two‐dimensional (2‐D) genetic algorithm and finite‐difference time‐domain is applied to the automatic design of ultra wideband (UWB) planar antennas in a finite size. The results illustrate that the method is valid and a new UWB antenna is designed successfully in the s

A linear array antenna design with desired radiation pattern has been presented based on genetic algorithm (GA) approach. Examples of cosecant and flat-topped beam patterns are illustrated to show the flexibility of GA to solve complex antenna synthesis problems by suitably selecting the fitness fun
