β¦ Synopsis
A generalized approach to reverse osmosis process design is presented for solution-membrane operating systems characterized by the membrane.parameters: hydraulic permeability L_, solute oermeabilitv w induced'compaction-co@fficient B 0, reflection coefficient a, solute , plasticjzing coefficient of solute permeability B ; and mass transfer coeffizient k on the high pressure side of the membrane and the properties of the solutions. Examples of reverse osmosis process design are carried out for e-caprolactum concentration and sea-water desalination using PEC-1000 spiral wound modules and compared with the experimental data reportedfrom TORAY and 800 m3/dav reverse osmosis seawater desalination olant at Chiaasaki Beach by Water Reuse Promotion Center Japan.

Presently adsorption on active coal is the commonly applied technique for the removal of solvents from polluted air streams for example from paint drying ovens. The necessary regeneration of the active coal by steam stripping results, after condensation and phase separation, in an almost pure solven
separation has been considered for the treatment of a relevant water stream involved in a phenol production plant of high capacity. The stream contains significant quantities of two organic peroxides and ot' sodium salts of organic acids which demand appreciable processing in order to allow for its
