✦ Synopsis

Abstract

A dual‐band microstrip bandpass filter with controllable bandwidth is proposed by using new dual‐band resonators. The resonator consists of a pair of shunt open stubs, including a stepped‐impedance open stub. The open stubs produce three transmission zeros, which result in sharp attenuations near the passbands, and large isolations between the two passbands. Design formulas of this type of filters are provided. A dual‐band bandpass filter operating at 2.4 and 5.2 GHz is designed and tested, and the measured characteristics agree well with the theoretical simulations. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
