Abstract
A novel square split‐ring resonator (SRR) defected ground structure (DGS) cell model is presented and analyzed in detail. Then an improved SRR DGS cell model loaded with open stubs is proposed in order to enhance the out‐band suppression. Based on this structure, an S‐band microstrip lowpass filter with low in‐band loss and high out‐band suppression is designed and fabricated effectively. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
