โœฆ Synopsis

Abstract

The influence of discontinuity effects on the performance of symmetrical multisection coupledโ€line directional couplers designed in a stripline technique has been comprehensively investigated, for the first time. It has been shown that the connections between coupledโ€line sections introduce parasitic reactances which deteriorate the isolations and return losses of designed couplers and also that the recently developed method of capacitive compensation can be applied to improve couplers' performance. A threeโ€section symmetrical 3โ€dB directional coupler has been designed and measured. The measurement results validate the presented analyses. ยฉ 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. ## Abstract A broadband highโ€performance threeโ€section symmetrical 3โ€dB directional coupler designed in a microstrip multilayer technology has been presented for the first time. To achieve excellent properties of the directional coupler a novel approach has been applied in which three different com
