β¦ Synopsis
mum is in the end-fire direction with higher cross-polar level and a gain of 3 dBi is observed over the VSWR BW. The area of the proposed compact MSA is 15 cm 2 , which is only 6% of the corresponding unslotted RMSA, which results in a better BW but a reduced gain.
6. CONCLUSION
A compact variation of the RMSA with a half U-slot, which reduces the antenna area by half, has been proposed. The BW enhancement of compact shorted SMSAs was obtained by cutting a quarter-wavelength stepped U-slot, which gives a BW of more than 20%.

## Abstract This paper proposes a new method for designing a microstripβantenna reflectarray. The array is a set of slotted rectangular microstrip antennas with one or two vias connected to the ground plane. Different techniques may be used to control the phase of the reflected wave, either by adju
A linear array antenna design with desired radiation pattern has been presented based on genetic algorithm (GA) approach. Examples of cosecant and flat-topped beam patterns are illustrated to show the flexibility of GA to solve complex antenna synthesis problems by suitably selecting the fitness fun
## Abstract In this article, a novel microstrip grid array antenna is presented. For achieving a high gain and good impedance match, its structural parameters were optimized by a parallel genetic algorithm. A prototype antenna measures a gain of 18.3 dBi with an input return loss of β15.0 dB at its
