✦ Synopsis
Abstract
A direct‐conversion mixer with zero‐bias current for IMT‐2000 application is designed by using the resistive cascode FET structure and is driven by the 2^nd^‐harmonic of the local oscillator (LO) signal. Due to the zero‐bias current operation of the cascode FET, the designed mixer has characteristics of very high‐power efficiency and low‐power consumption. In addition, the designed mixer not only has good linearity but also no conversion loss. When the designed mixer is driven by a 0‐dBm LO signal, it has characteristics of 0.67‐dB conversion gain, 4‐dBm input P~−1dB~, 8.25‐dBm IIP3, and 8.2‐dBm IIP2. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
