✦ Synopsis

A program was developed to allow a patient index file to be stored on computer. There are cross reference facilities allowing access to diagnostic indexes. Up to 800 patients' records can be stored on a file and a new file is started each year. Records can be updated or appended at any time and files can be duplicated to provide back up copies. The main drawback at present is response time and ways in which this may he improved are discussed.
